Project Description

At Spectrum AV we have been supplying the education sector with audio visual solutions for over 15 years. We take pride in the fact that we supply the most up to date and hi-tech AV solutions to all of our clients. This, along with the highest level of professional AV installation services has resulted in Spectrum AV winning many educational tenders for colleges and universities around Ireland.

The University of Limerick and University Hospital Limerick sought  audio visual equipment for installation in the new purpose built CERC teaching wing on the grounds of University Hospital Limerick. The scope of this tender was the audio visual fit out of a 150-seater tiered lecture theatre, 8 tutorial rooms, 3 meeting rooms, 1 computer lab and a collaborative study space. 5 of these spaces were to be fitted out with video conferencing facilities suitable for remote and local teaching.

In order to support the various scenarios, the AV fit out of the main lecture theatre included 3 projectors, a high spec video conference unit and supporting hardware. It was also required to have a passive 3D projection facility.

A touchscreen was recessed into the presentation station on the podium to control the AV systems in the room.

Each of the three tutorial rooms were kitted out with one Panasonic projector, 100” projection whiteboard screen and one large Panasonic 55” LCD display that is used as a second output for video conference purposes. The VC unit had two cameras, one for the podium and one for the audience. The rooms have in-ceiling speakers and power amplifiers for sound reinforcement. All systems were powered by a small, easy to use touchscreen panel.

Five tutorial meeting rooms did not have VC and the AV requirement was to fit out these rooms with a mix of long throw laser projectors and short throw projectors with 100” & 90” whiteboard screens respectively. The AV system would support different AV inputs and controllable from a Crestron MLC-M5 controller. Audio reinforcement was from a pair of wall mounted powered cabinet speakers or in-ceiling speakers and amplifier.

Overall, the clients were very satisfied with the install and services provided and we continue to work closely with the University of Limerick on a regular basis.
